Spring in the UK is such a lovely time of year – the days are getting longer, the weather’s warming up (slowly but surely!), and nature begins to bloom all around us. It’s also the perfect season for a relaxed, outdoor family photoshoot.

Here’s why I absolutely love photographing families in spring – and why you might want to book your session this season too.

From cherry blossom trees to bluebells in the woods and fresh green fields, spring offers a stunning, ever-changing backdrop. Nature is waking up after winter, and everything just feels lighter and brighter – perfect for relaxed, natural family photography.

Local Tip: Around Ashford and Kent, there are some gorgeous spring spots like King’s Wood, Hothfield Common and even quiet country lanes lined with blossom.

Spring sunshine has a lovely softness to it – not as harsh as in summer – which gives a warm, flattering glow in photos. If we time your session for golden hour (the hour before sunset), you’ll get that magical light that makes everything feel dreamy and golden.

Even a slightly overcast day can be beautiful – the light’s diffused and gentle, which is perfect for capturing candid family moments.
