Christmas at Home Photography in Kent: Relaxed Family Photos Without Leaving the House
There’s something lovely about Christmas at home. The tree is up, the Christmas music is playing, there are decorations everywhere and the children are excited about what’s to come. It’s also one of those times of year that can pass incredibly quickly. This year, why not capture your family exactly as you are at Christmas, in the place where you’re actually making those memories?
I offer relaxed Christmas photography sessions at home across Kent, bringing the photography to you rather than asking you to get everyone dressed, pack the car and head somewhere for a photoshoot.
Christmas photography at home
Christmas family photography doesn’t have to mean everyone dressing up and standing in front of a Christmas backdrop. Instead, I come to your home and photograph the things your family actually enjoys doing together. Maybe that’s decorating the Christmas tree, making paper chains, baking Christmas treats, drinking hot chocolate around the kitchen table or simply enjoying some time together in the middle of the Christmas chaos.
Your session can be completely personalised to your family and your home. If decorating the tree is a big part of your Christmas traditions, we can capture that. If your children love making decorations, playing with their Christmas toys or sitting around the table with a mug of hot chocolate, we can build the session around those things.
The result is a collection of natural family photographs that feel like your Christmas, rather than a set of photographs that could belong to anyone.
No need to worry about the weather
One of the best things about an at-home Christmas photography session is the simplicity.
There’s no need to find somewhere to go, worry about rain, cold weather or muddy children, or try to organise everyone around daylight hours.
You stay at home, where everyone is comfortable, and I come to you.
It also means younger children can take breaks when they need to, and there's no pressure to make the whole family behave perfectly for an hour. We can let the session unfold naturally around whatever is happening at home.
A Christmas photoshoot that's personal to your family
Every family celebrates Christmas slightly differently, which is exactly why I like photographing it at home. For one family, it might be the children decorating the tree while Dad attempts to untangle the lights. For another, it could be everyone sitting around the kitchen table making paper chains.
You might want photographs of the children in their Christmas pyjamas, siblings playing together, parents joining in with the decorating or everyone having a hot chocolate break. There are no set poses or fixed activities you have to follow. I'll guide things when needed, but the aim is to capture the personalities, relationships and little moments that make your family yours.

I’m based near Ashford and offer family photography sessions across Kent and the surrounding areas, including Tenterden, Folkestone, Hythe, Romney Marsh, Canterbury, Maidstone, Dover, Deal and Faversham, as well as locations further afield by arrangement.
I also travel to families around Folkestone, Hythe, Dover, Deal, Canterbury, Maidstone and the wider Kent area, so you can enjoy your session in your own home wherever you're based.

You don't need a perfect house. Your home doesn't have to look like a magazine — we're photographing your family, not creating an interior design shoot.
You don't need perfect children. They can be excited, silly, distracted or full of energy. That's all part of it.
You don't need to travel. I'll bring the photography to you, making the whole experience much easier.
You can use your own Christmas traditions. Your decorations, your kitchen table, your favourite mugs, your Christmas tree and all the little things that make Christmas feel like Christmas in your house.
And perhaps most importantly, you'll actually be in the photographs too.
